SYNOPSIS

The Young Man and the Sea is the coming-of-age story of Hafez, a boy who learns to communicate with the sea. Over the years, Hafez’s ambition to reach the sea’s horizon becomes an unrelenting obsession. As a young man, Hafez enrolls in Alexandria’s naval academy and learns how to sail. One day, Hafez decides to follow his dream and sets sail toward the horizon.

After a long, dangerous journey, Hafez lands on the strange and mysterious island of Medica where he witnesses war, falls in love, and experiences betrayal and vengeance. Amidst the chaos, Hafez is thrust into a great destiny where he must use his power to communicate with the sea and broker a fragile peace between the people of Medica and their enemies. What Hafez discovers in Medica tests his courage and defines the type of person he becomes when he returns from his journey.
